NOISE MASS 2005. Vortex Club, Tel Aviv, Israel.
24/12/2005
Merry Noisemass!!!
It was simply superb last night! I think, it was the kind of evening many
people, including myself, were waiting for for a long long time. There was an
unforgettable kind of energy, a feeling of true comradeship. And there we
were...
Firstly, the marvellous DJ-set by Igor of "The Eastern Front" that accompanied
us through the night and complimented all the live acts.
Crossfishes
- Ant Weiss, Alexander Roset (i had a pleasure of playing with him for the first
time) and yours truly in a free flight of open improvisation, hanging on a
thread of 2 laptops and an e-bow guitar between prophesy and insanity we seemed
to have captured the spirit once again and poured it out into the ears of the
eager listeners to their deepest content. We were basically having an
intercourse with the Infinite Space. Super-thanks to all who came and to all who
made it possible.
The second plunge into the heart of night was by deviously despotic noise wall of Wreck & Drool (which means 'your eardrums are my condoms'), joined by uncompromising Drone Lebanon left everybody stunned by vocals of pure unbridled aggression, like nothing ever heard before in this unHoly land.
Thirdly, we witnessed the mastery of Rough Age, veteran experimentalist Zev Asher's multipleMedia recording and performing project that has been active since 1988. Canadian maverick talent of video-art and noise, he has performed around the world and released works on a number of labels. His was truly a music to make love by... well, at least that is what I felt at the moment, because that is what was on my mind and hands at the moment... anyhow
Finally, bringing the delicious evening of sonic debauchery to its proper conclusion, the incomparable, most inventive and exclusive local outfit - Seventeen Migs of Spring with their tradition of playing new material for each show. It is quite impossible to describe in words the orgasmic quality of near out-of-body&mind experience of Migs performance. Ranging from deep ambient scapes with glitches of digital insects, distant chimes and choked words to rhythmic attacks of electronic madness. It is a pure spectacle of sound and visuals as the 3 members of Migs are very articulate on stage.
All in all, it was a long-awaited celebration of musical artistry, improvisation and freedom. A Blessed Night!
